Conclusion
Gladiator (2000) should be regarded as one of the best toga movies and maybe even best movie of all time. The most important factor of this movie’s greatness was its plot. There were themes of religion and romance but neither was heavy-handed or obvious. Besides that, the characters were very well-written and all of them contributed to the storyline in crucial ways. Commodus, for example, was an excellent villain that an audience would both sympathize with and hate. The second most important factor was the movie’s meaningful costumes. Maximus, Commodus, and Lucilla were all given outfits tailored to their personalities and journeys throughout the storyline. Finally, the music did an amazing job of selling the emotions this movie was supposed to evoke in the audience. All of these factors were combined in Gladiator (2000) and resulted in one of the best movies I’ve seen in my life.
